As ever, pĺease let me know if there is any reason why not.
bashburn didn't work properly in 13.37, but there is now a new release; so it will be interesting to see if it has improved (and is suitable as ratpoison's default app for this task).
lua may be biting off more than I can chew, but I'd like to try and see
bashburn, zenity, lua

Re: WIP: bashburn, zenity, lua
I don't think we need zenity anymore. There is a zenity symlink in mate-dialogs, so every script that was using zenity still works just fine.
Re: WIP: bashburn, zenity, lua
Is that true of all Salix editions? I most recently came across zenity in the context of /root/.xinitrc
That's a very important file for anyone migrating to Salix from Puppy

Re: WIP: bashburn, zenity, lua
As far as I can see mate-dialogs does not have any special mate deps, so it can be used in any Salix edition.mimosa wrote:Is that true of all Salix editions? I most recently came across zenity in the context of /root/.xinitrc
Re: WIP: bashburn, zenity, lua
How the difference between mate-dialogs and yad ?
Re: WIP: bashburn, zenity, lua
I don't know if there are any real differences. The practical difference I see is that mate-dialogs is absolutely needed for MATE and we're going to have to include it in the MATE edition anyway, so there's no reason to have 2 separate tools for the same job.JRD wrote:How the difference between mate-dialogs and yad ?
Re: WIP: bashburn, zenity, lua
Hum... ok bu I need to evaluate mate-dialogs then, because you can do a lot of things with yad, which cannot be done with zenity, and it requires the same deps.
I'm not sure that mate-dialogs can do all this. I don't see how mate-dialogs could be an absolute inclusion for mate as it is the same tool as yad and zenity and should be run from a script. Maybe some missing features in zenity that mate-dialogs has...but could be that yad has it too. I think this must be evaluated.

Re: WIP: bashburn, zenity, lua
We can use mate-dialogs for all salix editions. It replace zenity and has no deps. I have used it on slackel-kde-4.8.5. It works fine.
Re: WIP: bashburn, zenity, lua
Based on what I saw in the features of mate-dialogs, I'm pretty sure Yad is better and can be used in-place of mate-dialogs and zenity.
Btw, no deps ? no it cannot, it has at least GTK.
