No Buttons in Browsers

Post by Atip »

I tried to place an order over the Internet and when it comes to payment method there
should be a button, in this case PayPal, to click in order to continue to process the order.
Unfortunately there is no such button whether I use Firefox, Opera or
Midori in Salix, Slackel as well as TCL Firefox. For which reason order cannot be placed.

I then tried VL-7.1-Beta also a slacky and there is this button using Firefox and I coud have processed the order.

What could be the reason for absence of such a button and how could it be corrected?

I recall I had this problem once some years ago with the same website which disappeared
with a new version of Firefox.

It's possibly bad website design. Can you post the link to the website?

jingteashop.com.

If you quickly simulate an order and arrive at the page of payment method at the bottom there should be a button PayPal. There is none as mentioned.

Hello Atip! I simulated the order on that website using both Midori and Opera in Salix 14 and guess what the PayPal button was there at the payment method page! I could have completed my order without a problem. Now my wild guess is that you might have disabled JavaScript in your browsers in Salix. To check whether JavaScript is working in your browser visit the following page,
http://javatester.org/javascript.html
If you happen to have JavaScript disabled just enable it and revisit that page. If JavaScript is enabled and you still don't see the PayPal button on that page my another wild guess is that some websites require Java installed on your system for them to work perfectly so try checking if you have Java installed open terminal and

Code: Select all

java -version
If you have Java installed you will get output something like this,

Code: Select all

java version "1.7.0_09"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea7 2.3.3) (Slackware)
OpenJDK Client VM (build 23.2-b09, mixed mode)
And if Java is not installed try installing it and try that webpage again.

Thanks a lot hakerdefo.

I get the same output as you with java -version and javatester says java is installed yet 3 browsers in 4 different boxes do not show this PayPal button. I went back to VL-7.1-Beta and now there as well no button. :?: :?

Is some setting wrong somewhere and if so how could it be anywhere unless it has something to do with the BIOS. :?:

Next I will try Knoppix.

Did you check if JavaScript is enabled or disabled?

I think I might have found the problem. Whenever I enter Philippines as country in the shipping information there is no PayPal button. I tried 3 other countries and the button is there. Change back to Philippines and there is none.

Now how would I go about that? Who, what would block the Philippines. It is only this website as far as I know. Recently ordered from 2 others w/o a problem.

Contact the website and ask them. It may just be a glitch or an oversight.
