Alsactl not found during boot
I installed yesterday a PC with Salix OS v14.01-Xfce-32bit. After the system was ready installed, I restarted the PC. On the first boot the error-message "alsactl not found" was shown. I tried to install the file using gslapt, but the file was not in the repository and not in slackware. What is now wrong ?
Re: Alsactl not found during boot
Is alsa-utils installed?
In any case, it should be. Maybe the image you downloaded was corrupt. DId you check its md5sum? Or, if you installed using optical media, could be a bad burn.

Re: Alsactl not found during boot
Are you sure that is the exact error message? I'm thinking you probably misread something. Because alsactl is 100% there.

Re: Alsactl not found during boot
If you partitioned your drive and /usr is on a separate partition, it could be that alsactl isn't found at the time you see the message during the booting sequence. The wiki has information on how to define your sound card via bash profile processing: http://docs.salixos.org/wiki/How_to_def ... _Alsa_card
