Salix and Zenwalk in terms of Philosophy

Hello all. I'v been using debian for some months now and wana change to Slackware.
I have some Questions and i hope it is not rude for people here.

What are the differences between zenwalk and salix in terms of Philosophy ?
easy of use ? stability ?

The first Question maybe connected to the next:
What does it mean "fully backwards compatible with Slackware" ?
Does it mean that i can install Slackware and with salix cd upgrade and add stuf ?

After installing salix can i use the Slackware dvd ?

Zenwalk maybe more oriented at "bleeding edge" distri with newer program version. Salix stays much closer to the stable Slackware packages. Which leads to your second question: Yes, you can use Salix packages on a Slackware system and vice versa. We only have replaced few packages that already exist in Slackware (e.g. lilo, because of our own artwork). Zenwalk rebuilds a lot of packages on it's own.
Just go ahead and test the distries in a VirtualBox and afterwards use what better fit's your needs
