If by Start Button you mean the applications menu (in the upper left, on the panel), then I'd start here: https://wiki.xfce.org/howto/customize-menujpg153 wrote:I am still trying to find out which file I need to modify to change the entries under the start button...
Re: xfce start button
Been awhile since I used Xfce, is there a menu editor entry under system or settings? In the past, you had to manually edit .desktop files to change the menu, pretty easy.
If not here are a few links that worked in the past:

Re: xfce start button
I seem to dimly remember a gui for menu editing...one the barely worked, sometimes, in some distros. The old-fashioned, hand edited way noted above always worked much betterChuangTzu wrote:...is there a menu editor entry under system or settings?
Most xfce distros nowadays appear to be moving to Whisker Menu and it's associated menu editing gui (forgot the name). From my limited experience (on Xubuntu), it works fairly well, not that I'm a big fan of the Whisker Menu.
I'll be interested to see what slack/salix 14.2 with XFCE 4.12 includes.

Agreed, then again I prefer Fluxbox and its menu system, so I am biased. Feels strange not getting a menu with right click or a key.ElderDryas wrote:not that I'm a big fan of the Whisker Menu.
4.12 does have some nice improvements, but also losing more of its leanness with each update, not that much lighter than Gnome shell anymore. If they go full GTK3 it will be even heavier. But thats another discussion.

Try menulibre.jpg153 wrote:Any hint which file to edit and where it is located?
Code: Select all
slapt-src -i menulibre
I agree, and it is disturbing.ChuangTzu wrote:4.12 does have some nice improvements, but also losing more of its leanness with each update, not that much lighter than Gnome shell anymore. If they go full GTK3 it will be even heavier. But thats another discussion.

Hi guys,
thanks for that lot of input.
I will give it a try soon and report back.
Mozo did not work. It creates a lot of error messages and does not allow to mofify existing entries..
