Are dependencies removed?

Post by jerome »

Hi,

I'm new to Salix and Slackware based distros and was wondering whether the gslapt system removes dependencies? To clarify, supposing I install a package which requires a lot of dependencies and then later remove the package (using Gslapt); is only the package removed or are all the dependencies also removed?

Thanks, and Happy Christmas!

Hello Jerome,

I think you will find this a nice feature as removing a program will not "gut" the system, like other distros.. Try apt-get remove something in Debian/Ubuntu and you lose half or more of your system depending on the program.

This is a nice balance between Slackware no depends and Debian/Ubuntu/Red Hat the whole repo depends.

and Merry Christmas to you as well.
