This device is pretty old. OK, very old. I'm not sure exactly what year they were released in, but for the sake of dating it, it has a 500 MHz Celeron. When I got it, it had 128 MB RAM and a 6 GB HDD. I upgraded those to 256 MB and 40 GB respectively. Also tossed in a wireless N PCMCIA card. Running Salix Fluxbox. I posted screenshots in another thread, but I thought some of you might enjoy seeing the actual device. Right now it's pretty stock, I swapped Firefox out for Dillo and LXterminal for Terminator. Also installed fceux because of course I did.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it! Normally, I like darker themes, but the TFT display on this thing doesn't do contrast so good, so the liter themes show up better. Hence, I have the theme pretty stock as it was out-of-the-box. Also, some concessions have to be made on a box this old. You won't be watching youtube videos on it, or Facebook, which, to be honest, is fine with me. I plan on adding a few other emulators, and dropping some music on it. Mainly, I thought it would be great for playing some old games and listening to music while connecting to SDF.org. Hopefully soon I will get you guys some more shots of it actually doing something, rather than just sitting idle.

I wouldn't rule out youtube completely. Sure, the web interface with flash or html5 will probably not work, but a combination of youtube-dl and mplayer, or yt should work, if you set the video quality to some non-HD setting.

Oh, definitely. If you have a non-HD video local on the drive, I'm sure it would play it fine. I remember watching Divx encoded movies on my old PII back in the day. I'm sure if it was a priority, I could get it done.

Very cool! Thanks for posting.

I can definitely recommend youtube-dl, even for the highest spec machines. It works on sites other than YT, too, though I am not sure how consistently.
Those are lovely pictures.
