[SOLVED] MOC - music on console (two problems)

Post by zAchAry »

1. MOC is getting stuck after hours (I think more than six) of playing of a streaming audio data.
1.1. MOC itself is responding very slow.
1.2. The same sounds of a certain fraction of a second is repeating over and over.
1.2.1. A funny thing is that it keeps downloading the stream but it is, as mentioned, no longer playing the new collected data.

2. Open MOC > Press h (make sure that CapsLock is off)
UP Go to the previous entry in the history (entry)
DOWN Go to the next entry in the history (entry)
x Toggles the mixer channel
u Move playlist item up
j Move playlist item down
^u Add a URL to the playlist using entry
x isn't working.

I was wondering whether I maybe need to install a certain package or a certain few packages to resolve that, because it never happened with the (assuming) older version that was (not any longer) available at Ubuntu 8.10.

either way, thank you. I'll go now to http://moc.daper.net/

@gapan
Is there any chance to update the current MOC package?

It appears to be (and I'm NOT clear about it) that the version that I've used on Ubuntu-8.10 intrepid was of the 2.5.x series and in my experience it was very stable, except for a memory leaking* of the console interface (60MB - 80MB of RAM), but the daemon* was rock solid 24/7 and consistent.

Debian -- Package Search Results -- moc - lenny (stable) and above (2.5.x)
Ubuntu -- Package Search Results -- moc - Hardy and above (2.5.x)

Since 8.04 has the 2.5.x version I can just assume that 8.10 had a 2.5.x version too.

2.4.4 is the latest stable release. The 2.5.x branch is currently at alpha state.

Fair enough. Anyhow, for reference reasons, SBo has a SLKBUILD of the 2.5.x
series (link), and I should have checked it at SBo before continuing this thread
by requesting an update, sorry about that.

The only thing that is left for me is wondering why moc.daper.net declaring
their 2.5.x series as alpha-stage and not as beta-stage, oh well...

Edit:

This problem is also taking place with moc (2.5.0_alpha4), perhaps it has something to do with one of it's dependencies. How can I analyze or make a clear report about that problem?

note: to make paragraph 1.1 clearer - the ncurses interface is working fine but the player itself, that runs in the background, is responding slow.

It occurred to me with MPD also, but only once (audio stream).

Edit: Wow! I am using Salix OS since 2010 :-D

Weird, had one of those syncronicity moment .

You having delayed sound, and i caught this podcast on a guy called Donald Broadbent, not relevant but i thought this might interest you, dual channels can cause brain leakage ;)
Its implementation is mainly psycholgical, but i can see uses in digital media reproduction.
