Hi,
still trying to find out about the lousy network performance when accessing windows shares or webdav accounts.
But I dont find info about the Salix tools for network configuration (wicd manager ...) and the info I get for Slackware might not be accurate...at least I am not sure.
So where to look best if one is looking for the most up-to-date info and/or for system/network tweaking?
Thanks in advance.

What you get for slackware is applicable to salix 100%. But sorry, I can be no help regarding windows shares, I have no experience at all with that.
Re: Where to find proper documentation on Salix and Slackware 13
Gapan,
the point is, Slackware description for network setup is refering to the file
/etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf
but when I compare the description with the file on my machine...it doesnot match.
The terminal session tells me on ifconfig
that eth0 has MTU of 1500 - which is suboptimal for PPPoE.
But, when and where was that set up?
I dont see that but would like to know.
Are there other ways of setting up the network in Salix than via wicd?
Thanks!

I don't know what you're reading that doesn't match, but you can read through this to see how to connect to your network without using wicd: http://www.slackbook.org/html/network-c ... ation.html

Gapan,
this is I was referring to!
So I will try to configure my network setup without the tools which hides what it does...
