Slackware Linux Monetary Support.

Post by Pascal Pype »

Does the Salix OS make donations to its mother distribution Slackware Linux?

The donate link of the Slackware Store has been removed by the request of Patrick Volkerding himself.
The people at Slackware Store seem not to be honest with Patrick and they are not forwarding him the
revenue of donations they receive.

There are a few known ways to support Slackware Linux financially such as:
1) Patrick's PayPal link: https://www.paypal.me/volkerdi,
2) Patreon: https://virtuallyfun.com/2019/08/19/sla ... to-patreon.

Apparenty, there is no official way to donate to the Slackware Linux distribution on an irregular base where you can
determine the amount of money to donate and when.
The personal PayPal link seems not to be official to me.
With Patreon, the donations are on a monthly base at 1.50 € / month.

In my opinion, the financial well-being of Slackware is of paramount importance to Salix.

Hi Pascal, welcome!

Yes, totally agree with that. We try to contribute on a yearly basis. We don't have a steady source of income, so the amount varies each time.

We suggest that everyone contributes to slackware too. In fact, I have now added a suggestion in our donations page to donate to Slackware and slackware.uk too.
