i686 is fine for me, but George want's to use his old Pentium machine with our distribution

Tell me some boards for P2 or P3 with ISA slots ISA is really outdated for desktop computers nowadays. If you want to use such old stuff you should consider a distribution, that is made for this task.
ISA slots may be absent, ISA is still present in some form on modern motherboards, if I am not mistaken.
