Kernel 6.18 packages available for Salix 15.0

Post by gapan »

Some have already noticed, as I have received a few emails about it already, but we now also have kernel 6.18 packages for Salix 15.0!

You can find the kernel 6.18 packages here:
https://download.salixos.org/x86_64/kernel6.18-15.0/

Respectively, you can get the packages through slapt-get if you set this in your slapt-getrc:

Code: Select all

SOURCE=https://download.salixos.org/x86_64/kernel6.18-15.0/:PREFERRED
Use the PREFERRED priority as shown in this example.

I had originally uploaded kernel 6.18.18 packages last week, but I have just uploaded packages for 6.18.19 just now. It might take a few hours for the mirrors to sync.

The upgrade instructions should otherwise be the same as with the 6.12 kernel that is mentioned here: viewtopic.php?t=8920

I know that a new iso has been long overdue. This is partially because it's not just the kernel upgrade, I'm trying out other things as well, but maybe I should just drop some of those.

Anyway, thanks for trying these out. Please report if you find any issues.

Thanks a lot for the new packages, both kernel 6.18 and Xfce 4.20 run without any issues - great to have those uptodate packages on a solid base. Just in case somebody needs to get Virtualbox running with the new kernel: I had to uninstall the slackbuilds 6.1 Virtualbox packages and get the .run installer from Oracle, version 7.2.6. Also, xcb-util-cursor from the Salix repos needs to be installed for the gui to work.
