The project is actually at 3.5.12 status (CLICK HERE, the souces are [for now] packaged only for ubuntu).

No, it is NOT *buntu: the project leader chose to create ubuntu packages, but this means nothing.
The sources (CLICK HERE-----> http://websvn.kde.org/branches/trinity/ ) are _universal_ and all distributions can use them to create their own packages. Did you think to find the .txz packages purposefully prepared :?:

aLinux (formerly Peanut Linux) also goes with KDE 3.5.x, and I believe it is Trinity. It is by no means solely a Kubuntu thing. I don't know what Vector Linux is using with their KDE Classic version (maybe 3.5.10) but I wouldn't be surprised if they are now using Trinity as well.
