I am interested in using Bibletime in Salix. Pertinent URLs follow --

This link shows that relevant binary packages are not available to download for Slackware --

My experience with Debian-based distros is that the program Xiphos (formerly GnomeSword, I believe) works hand-in-hand with Bibletime and, at one time, was required for downloading software into Bibletime

Other Bible study software such as that listed at
http://www.crosswire.org/applications.jsp?section=Linux require Java to function. I do not care to go with Java if I can avoid it.

From what I can gather, it appears that the *Clucene API (quote from website below) may be the way to go.

CLucene aims to be a good alternative to Java Lucene when performance really matters or if you want to stick to good old C++. CLucene is faster than Lucene as it is written in C++, meaning it is being compiled into machine code, has no background GC operations, and requires no any extra setup procedures."

Any help and/or suggestions to obtain a working package and how2 pointers would be much appreciated.

bibletime requires KDE. What is this SWORD programming library they are talking about?

Sword is confusing -- once called GnomeSword, it is now Xiphos. How this is differentiated from the Sword Project engine mentioned below, I do not know.

I am simply hoping someone has info on how to make this/these function properly using a Slackware-based distro like Salix.

To be sure to understand your issue correctly, I will try to ask again. Is bibletime based on KDE or Gnome? The description says something about "based on K Desktop Environment".
Unfortunately, KDE is not the default desktop in Salix and therefore I am not using it, my decision is strongly based cause of XFCE towards Salix ...

I didn't see anything about KDE, damNageHack, only Gnome, CLucene, GTK+.
