If there's software you need and you can't find, make a request for it.

jeex (GTK+ Hex Editor)

Post by zAchAry »

Jeex is a simple hexadecimal editor which allows user to create, open
and edit files in hexadecimal, binary, octal and ASCII. The features
include insert, delete, copy-and-paste, search and many others.

It also shows several information about the opened file, like file mode
bits, ownership, last access and modification timestamps.

Website: http://www.hds619.net/jeex.php
SlackBuild: http://slackbuilds.org/repository/13.1/ ... ment/jeex/
Dependencies: http://packages.debian.org/source/sid/jeex (I'm not sure about debhelper)

No GNOME dependency, hahaha!!!
Woohoo, I'm, finally, going to use a hex editor on SalixOS

Sure, I used it on Ubuntu 8.10, but I'm trying to use as less as GNOME as I can since I do not like the policies of the managers of the GNOME project

for instance:
Fluxbox and gnome-settings-daemon
Fluxbox and gnome-settings-daemon (SOLVED)
Airconfig (an nm-applet frontend)
wow, software really is fast... sort of / Arch Linux Forums

I've decided to boycott GNOME products (only where I can) in the hope that something will be changed and new independent software will appear.
Boycott is another form of having the power to change :)

Stop ranting about GNOME in this thread! This is a package request thread. Such type of discussion should happen in Misc or Useless talk section.

Back to topic:
I can't find how to activate ASCII vie beside the Hex view in Jeex.

I have Jeex on SBo, but I'm not willing to maintain it anymore.

GHex is just faster.

And if you don't mind ncurses, there's ht and hexedit, I'll have them in my ftp folder soon.

ps: still can't acess the !#@$ bugtracker while logged in!

Ah! I forgot, there's a work-in-progress hex editor written in wxGTK, you can grab it from svn.

Check it out: http://wxhexeditor.sourceforge.net
