cheers worked a treat, sorry i did not reply sooner but i have been enjoyin the stability an slimness of this distro

but alas i do have another question, is there a simpler way to change the word "darkstar" to one of my choice

Edit these 2 files:
* /etc/hosts
* /etc/HOSTNAME

geBIERt (German beer blog)

unfortunately, i don't see this in my menu, although i have noticed h-top apear (i didn't install it)
an since openin it out curiousity, its quite nice, conky an alike can go suck themselves now lol

i will be using thenktors method

If you are using Salix 13.1, an upgrade should add this new utility to your system menu.

hi, guys i fancied trying out some games an i installed megaglest from http://sourceforge.net/projects/megaglest/

the game however does not work no doubt im missing some dependencies but since playin with a few other game in between i have decide that im more of a console gamer so all my game have been uninstall except for megaglest as i cant use the package manager what other commands can i use or is it just as easy to delete any file within the associated folder

How did you install it?
If you did the "make" and "make install" way you can try "make uninstall".
If you are just running it from the folder you can delete the folder.
