Hi all,
well I think the built-in ATI Radeon driver is ok - at least this is the one chosen and installed.
The Radeon 9xxx series is afaik well supported by the built-in drivers.
So far the system is running ok, just a bit less "snapier" than with Zenwalk, but I am not yet fully through all settings...
Any tweaks to get better system response time?
Thanks anyway.

Buy a Quad-Core

Or use LXDE instead of XFCE.

Placebo ?! Yes, could be. As I am using the system "as usual" - still some areas not completely customised - it really appears at same speed. It is likely because I am used to Opera which I installed this afternoon - feels like being home again.
Quad-Core? Well, if I had the money, but even then...for what I want to do my 1GHz Athlon is fast enough!
Was a reason why I used OS/2 (eCS) for ages and why I was looking for small Linux like this one here.
I dont need an OS with some 100GB to write a letter or to surf the www.
Again, nice System, well done Guys!

Perhaps you really want to give LXDE a try. In my homble opinion XFCE cannot be considered lightweight anymore.

Will keep that in mind!
Thanks.
