Have you tried searching with Catfish? If you have XFCE version of Salix you probably have Catfish installed by default. When you enter Catfish on the left side there are various options... in the file name field enter xfce4-xkb-plugin and click find. Now wait for the results. Ofcourse you need to set search location to / (root). If nothing is found you probably don't have it installed on your system.

If not, your best bet is to install from the repos, and you may not need to do anything (reboot though).

Found a lot, i tried lot of that, that is the reason why i asked for location an told you i can't find it.
Because i really can't find anything relevant, which will eventually work.
And yes i rebooted my PC.

Did you install theplugin from the repos?
EDIT
I just had a look and this seems to be installed as standard. At least, it is present in my Salix Live 13.37 xfce and I can't recall having installed it.
Right click on panel
Add new items
Scroll down to "Keyboard layouts"
... and select your desired options

Your image is what you can access from the menu under Settings/keyboard, I think. You should get to the one you want by following the instructions I posted in my edit.
Just to make sure, please post the output of:
Code: Select all
#slapt-get --installed | grep xfce4-xkb

It says:
Code: Select all
# slapt-get --installed | grep xfce4-xkb
xfce4-xkb-plugin-0.5.3.3-i486-3gv [inst=yes]: xfce4-xkb-plugin (keyboard layout applet for xfce)

That means you have it installed. Now right click on your xfce panel (taskbar, thing on the bottom, call it what ever you want) and left click on "Add new items". Now scroll down with your mouse wheel down till you find "keyboard layouts" and click on "Add" at bottom right corner. Now you will get what you were looking for. Now you just need to play with those settings.
