As I just posted in my thread on this problem, the solution turned out to be just switching the setting in the wicd menu. Mine was set at wlan1, I switched it to wlan0 and all my connections were back. I don't understand how it switched in the first place. And that may not be the problem here. But it's a quick thing to try.

@Sasquatch
So my hunch was right! I'm glad that worked for you. It's interesting that more than one person has seen the same thing. Do you multi-boot too, by any chance? I'm casting around for an explanation that isnt related to a package upgrade, because it seems so implausible that should be the cause ...

Yes,sir. Your hunch was spot on. I didn't even try the code you posted in my thread. I just switched the setting in wicd and, voila!
I don't understand how, but the update had to be the cause. I did absolutely nothing after the last install except update and reboot. Somehow the setting got toggled from wlan0 to wlan1.
*EDIT*
Forgot to add... no, I don't multi-boot.

Did you reboot between installing and updating?

No. I installed (for the fourth time, long story), updated, rebooted, lost wi-fi. Although I had rebooted several times before the problem first appeared. But that was all prior to the last update.
Now I'm curious to see if the fix is permanent or if I need to switch the wlan setting every time I reboot.

Hi @mimosa,
for recap:
- some time ago I upgraded from 14.0.1 to 14.1,
- the wifi didn't work but was solved after install b43-firmware and b43-fwcutter with Sourcery. (Worked fine until yesterday, when I installed a new kernel)
-Yesterday I noticed that after the 14.1 upgrade the kernel was still the 3.2.45, then I went to Gslapt and installed the new 3.10.17.
- After this I have lost the wifi...
For try to solve yesterday I did:
- I reinstalled b43-firmware and b43-fwcutter with Sourcery but didn't solve it.
- I pushed the wifi button but nothing happened.
- I tried sudo dhcpcd but I get: Operation not possible due to RF-kill
( I have a dual boot with Antix, when I run Salix it kill the wifi in Antix but I can up it, after this in Antix the wifi works fine)

Did you follow the instructions on the wiki for upgrading to 14.1? I am surprised it worked at all with the old kernel. You need to upgrade all kernel packages, not just the kernel itself. But maybe you did that. Anyway, please have a look at those instructions, and make sure all steps have been carried out. Don't forget to run lilo (or lilosetup, or liloconfig).
