Then try adding "acpi_osi=Linux" to the append line in lilo.conf. Run lilo:
after you make the changes and reboot.

sudo lilo -vYou solved the issue once again, many many thanks
Salix 14.1 runs wonderfully on the netbook and my colleague is really impressed how the machine has improved its performance. I believe Linux won another user..
