interesting, i use vlc so never noticed this, here is the message:
copy/pasted a link from youtube:
"Additional Software Required
Parole needs text/html decoder to play this file.
It can be installed automatically."
Click install and nothing happens, strange it seems to be a bug going back to 2013, as Xubuntu users were looking for a solution as well.

I installed all the suggested libraries. Nothing changed. I still have this problem. In Xubuntu as someone reported it, it was solved thanks to libgnomevfs2-extra but that library doesn't exist in Slackware.

Parole does not support youtube links. VLC and smplayer do.

I don't mind too much as I have other multimedia players and there is a workaround by downloading the video with youtube-dl.
I will edit the line of the subject as solved but it is a limitation of Parole which is the media player installed by default in Salix.
Perhaps it would be better to have another default choice !
