Update:damNageHack wrote:64 bits? Salix is 32 bits, so you can use only the half of your cpu registersEaglePrince wrote:Just installed on home built pc.
64-bit Athlon 3500 dual-core with 2Gig RAM, nVidia graphics and 'tiny' 320 gig disk, shared with Vista Home Premium, which I need for some propietory program I use at the moment.
So far, I'm lovin' it
Suggestion: Install your Vista in a virtualbox machine and get running Salix for 100% of time
Both my machines are now running Salix64 and I'm massively impressed.
I have been able to build Audacity, Avidemux, Mplayer and OGMRip on both machines

My other computer is a Dell Vostro 1700 laptop with an Intel 1.8 GHz CPU, 2 Gig RAM and Nvidia graphics.

Re: What do you have Salix installed on
Yes, I have to correct myself because Salix64 was not born as I wrote the above comment. Additionally, "half of your registers" was an ironical (or troll) statement from me.Update:64 bits? Salix is 32 bits, so you can use only the half of your cpu registers

Salix64 seems to be very fast, this is correct.

This is the oppinion of the author, it does not force you to share and is signed automatically.
You are free to keep them all errors for your own. Linux is the best game I ever played.

Re: What do you have Salix installed on
Just installed on my laptop,
Presario1525us, Intel Pentium 4CPU 2.40GHz, Speed 2400 MHz.
I made up my mind after reading an article in "distrowatch" about Salix an others distributions.
So far I love it, still I have to work a little more to have it as I like it. First experience with anything close to slackware.
