And haven't you realized that you're not typing by then? 
Actually, you don't have to hit Ctrl-z to go to passthrough mode to type. I never do that. But you need to hit Ctrl-f and point vimprobable2 to the text field in that page. When you do, you'll be able to type in it, without the page closing on you.

So in fact, my whole problem was a lack of faith in mouseless operation. How did I get typing? By clicking in the field. I thought you got there by tabbing endlessly through the page, or else by cheating. Now I see ...
