I'll keep my Slackel comments for another thread, mimosa. I think what Shador has come up with for a udev rule is a good tip for auto mounting under XMonad, though.

I thought there was some connection with XMonad

I use Gmountman with ratpoison (and have a shortcut in my .ratpoisonrc to call it).
