Invert it, if you want executables in your $HOME/bin directory to take precedence over system versions. Most of the times one doesn't need this and this could cause troubles if you are unaware of this behaviour. But it can be useful to install multiple versions of an application for example. It needs to look like this then if you decide so:
(Quotes are no bad idea, in case somebody loves troublesome spaces. Not good for something like PATH though.)
IMPORTANT! Be sure to relogin for the change to take fully effect. There are other temporary workarounds (no full effect) which I won't detail here.
mimosa wrote:Alternatively, as Shador says, you can do all this on a per-user basis, in which case root isn't needed and the files should belong to the user. Create ~/bin and save the wrapper script (or symlink) there, pointing it wherever you're keeping the application within your ~.
Menu launchers go into ~/.local/share/applications in that case.

Hi there. Am really glad you gave Sunflower a glance. As you might have guessed am the original author of this little program.
Some time ago we decided not to package Sunflower until its first stable release. We did however write a small script that can easily install (or upgrade) and remove Sunflower from your system. Script works with and without super-user permissions. If you do provide it with super-user permissions application is installed in /usr/opt/Sunflower, launcher script in /usr/local/bin/sunflower and desktop file in /usr/share/applications. Application icon is installed as well.
If you need help with anything please feel free to contact me. There are many ways to reach me. We also have IRC channel #sunflower at FreeNode.
If you wish to file a bug report or feature request you can do so on our issues tracker on Google Code.
Please forgive me for not posting any links as this forum doesn't allow me to do so before posting 3 replies first.

Can convert the package Sunflower from RPM to TGZ for Slackware and install it:
Code: Select all
# rpm2tgz -d -n sunflower-0.1a.38-1.noarch.fedora.rpm
# installpkg sunflower-0.1a.38-noarch-1.tgz
