Could it be something with your GTK theme? Try switching back to the default.

I actually tried several themes. It seems like the only ones that work are the ones that came pre-installed.

edit: I'm in another distro at the moment but I will check again.

Maybe the only themes that work are the ones that are globally installed?

actually I ran qtconfig again and tried to select the default desktop? and I got this...
louis[~]$ qtconfig
link path-main hasn't been detected!
link path-main hasn't been detected!
link path-main hasn't been detected!
link path-main hasn't been detected!
link path-main hasn't been detected!
link path-main hasn't been detected!

maybe I just have a bad install.

ok, I can select all the possible options, cde, clearlooks, motif, windows and whatever else is in qtconfig except for GTK+ and Default.

I tried themes in both ~/home/louis/.themes and /usr/shared/themes

are there any qt apps installed in the beta or something I could try? because all the GTK+ apps work fine.

Why can't you select the GTK+ one or the default one?

No. No qt apps are installed by default. You can try to install some more, like clementine, qbittorrent, qmpp, unetbootin...

I can select them, it's just as I stated before, if I run qtconfig in a terminal I get the "can't determine the GTK+ theme" message. And if I click on default I get the above message.

How and when is slapt-update-notifier supposed to run because I haven't seen any notifications since installing beta1 and I just noticed a number packages that needed to be updated?

Thanks.
