Nothing changed after reinstalling and rebooting the system. It's still the same error.

After installing the missing library
libxmlb-0.3.8-i586-1salix15.0, everything is working as it should. Thanks for the help.

This is strange, because that library should already be there as part of the appstream package.

I updated a second Salix 15 32-bit machine where salix-update-manager was installed automatically, and the same error occurred. The libxmlb library was not installed automatically. Running sudo slapt-get -i libxmlb fixed the issue. On two other Salix 15 64-bit machines, everything works fine after the automatic installation of salix-update-manager. It seems that libxmlb might be missing as a dependency in the 32-bit version.
