Just noticed that the Mail Watcher (or whatever it was really called in Salix 13.37 with XFCE 4.6) panel plugin was missing from Salix14rc1. Will it be in the final release or has it been dropped in Salix14 with XFCE4.10 ?

If I said "pretty please with sprinkles" could it be put back in?

Not unless you make it compile too, because it doesn't.

Hello friends! Congratulations for your fantastic distro!
I'm using Salix Linux 14.0 RC1 (32 bit) and it works very well, like a charm.
However, I've found some issues:
I've installed VLC 2.0.3 media player from repos (with Gslapt), and it doesn't play any DVD disk.
Of course, all multimedia codecs are properly installed, with Salix-codecs-installer.

I've downloaded and installed VLC 2.0.4 from Slacky-eu, and it plays DVD disks perfectly. Please, upgrade this package.
Parole media player also doesn't play DVDs!

I've installed Soundconverter 2.0.4 from repos (with Gslapt), and it doesn't work!
usuario[~]$ soundconverter
SoundConverter 2.0.4
SoundConverter needs pygtk and gnome-python >= 2.24!
The following packages are already installed:
gnome-python 2.28.1
pygobject 2.28.6
pygtk 2.24.0
Moreover, there are some useful packages, present in Salix 13.37 repos, that they aren't in 14.0 repos. Will they be in the final release?

Regarding the problem with Libreoffice in x86_64, I can report that on booting back into the install, it worked. However, when I called it from console, it produced these messages:
Code: Select all

Parole media player also doesn't play DVDs!
I have no DVDs to try here, but it could be a problem with gstreamer. I'll need to check.

A case of missing dependencies (in gnome-python). Make sure you have libgnome, libbonobo and libgnomeui installed.

mtpaint will certainly be part of the 14.0 repos as it is a default app for the LXDE edition. Nobody offered to create packages for the others yet, so the answer is probably not. They are probably available through sourcery/slapt-src though.

Yes, I've installed those dependencies, and Soundconverter now works fine!

Yes, that's right!
Thank you very much, guys!
