A 4GB
LaCie MosKeyto USB flash drive. So Salix is running on whatever PC I plug it into!
I've tried it on:

Celeron(R) CPU 2.00GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
and
XFCE4-13.37 on my wifes HP-2133 netbook
We are both basically happy with Salix.

Asus Eee 1005HAB. Intel Atom N270 dual core CPU at 1.6 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB SATA hard drive, Intel 945 onboard graphics.
It isn't a speed demon, and the screen is a bit small, but it gets the job done.

I saw your post just by chance.
I don't use Salix for everyday use now. I didn't experience any special performance issues with Salix on my Thinkpad when I did. You should try running other distributions with a similar setup to find the cause of the problem.
Anyway, maybe this thread is not the right place for that. It's better opening a new thread.
