I don't know if anyone needs or wants this but I found this and thought it might help someone. I have only had it a couple of days but it seems to be working okay so far. They have this for sale with a few extras but is very expensive. You can use it for non-commercial applications free of charge. I am using it as a simple way of connecting to my laptop and my wife's laptop. I haven't tried to transfer files yet but I can run programs on my desktop from my laptop. So far I have only used it on my local network but it is supposed to connect across the internet.

It does not have to be installed but contains some wine files and runs off of that. The file for Linux (the tar file and not the .deb etc) extracts to your disk and then you can click and run the command. The file works on both 32 and 64 bit systems. This is much easier than setting up some of the other programs that will let you forward a desktop. You can also sign up for a free account and put your computers (partners) in it to connect to them.

I haven't tried it with a windows computer because I don't own any!

Sorry, I have not seen your package due to forgotten to update package cache in prior.

ssh is great and I do use that. I also believe that it takes a little knowledge of what you are doing. This program downloads, extracts, runs. No files need to be altered. I thought it might be good for those that are just starting with Linux and looking for something really easy to use. Also, I have tried FreeNX and a few others and found that they were more trouble than they were worth. They drove me back to ssh. To each there own, if you don't like it don't use it.

You're right. If I remember packaging FreeNX for ZW... Packaging and configuring this thing really was not worth the amount I've used it afterwards

The nice thing about Teamviewer is that you do not have to do any special port forwarding or network config for remote connections. It is also cross platform. I use this for supporting friends and family members PC's.
