firefox file associations don't work

Hello,
When I try to open lets say a pdf file from the web the standard associated program is documentviewer if firefox. Using this options results in an error: program doesn't exist. When I try to change the association of pdf files to Evince this is not possible. The same happens with odf / doc files with openoffice. My solution is to download the files and then I open the program using thunar. Is there a solution?
Best regards,
anttel

Just saw that I could set evince as pdf viewer, so i did... odf isn't a choice in the file associations.

Upload it to an image hosting site. Here's one from my system. In greek, but I think the important things are obvious.
