Salix Live 13.1.1 Xfce and LXDE editions

It has been exactly one year, day for day, since Salix OS has published its very first public release.
One year which has also seen the birth of a 64 Bit version, new and improved GTK+ system utilities (mostly written in Python), Salix Live, Salix LXDE, considerably improved localization (thanks to the great contributions of dedicated translators and Transifex coordination: http://www.transifex.net/projects/p/salix/) and the establishment of one of the largest repository of fully compatible Slackware packages with full dependency management. Thus getting ever closer to one of our ambitions which is to extend the wonderful simplicity of Slackware KISS design to daily ease of use as well.
And to truly celebrate this first anniversary, we are very pleased to announce the immediate dual release of Salix Live 13.1.1 as well as Salix Live 13.1.1 LXDE edition.
Both Live CDs closely match their respective counterparts: Salix 13.1.1 standard release and Salix 13.1.1 LXDE edition, with the added inclusion of all bug fixes and security updates that have since been made available.
As with previous versions, Salix Live is based on the tried and proven Linux Live Scripts that have been natively upgraded to support kernel 2.6.33.4 along with the latest Squashfs 4.0 with lzma compression and Aufs2 union file system.
LiveClone utility is a new addition that has also been natively developed to assist you with the creation of your very own customized Live CDs or Live USB drives. In just a few clicks, you will be able to produce your very own mini-distribution, which you can then deploy with the help of Salix Live Installer at your friends, your family, your community schools, your work place, etc. The idea is to create a personalized Live medium before installing, including any extra software and settings, rather than performing multiple installations and then going through the repetitive task of having to personalize each installation with adapted software, languages and pretty graphics as so many of us so often do.
Salix Live installer has been further refined and will be appreciated by all those who feel more comfortable with a graphical installer in their own language.
Salix Live installer also offers Salix's 3 different modes of installation which, as a reminder, are:
Core: Only the minimum essentials for a console system to start. Salix ncurses system tools are included, but a graphical system is not. This mode is designed for experienced users who want to customize their installation for a specific purpose, such as a web server, file server, etc.
Basic: This includes the previous Core mode applications with, depending on the particular edition of Salix Live, the addition of only the Xfce or LXDE desktop environment, a web browser (Firefox with Xfce and Midori with LXDE), the gslapt package manager and Salix system GUI utilities. This mode is designed for advanced users that would like to install a lightweight Desktop environment and add their own choice of applications.
Full: This installs a complete set of application one could need on a day-to-day basis. That includes all the Basic mode applications with the addition of Claws-mail email client, the complete OpenOffice.org suite accompany the Xfce edition while the lighter Gnumeric and Abiword match the LXDE edition, a Java Runtime Environment, Exaile music manager, the Parole media player is included with Xfce while the Whaah! media player accompany LXDE, etc, following the "one application per task" rationale.
The Salix Live 13.1.1 and Salix Live 13.1.1 LXDE edition iso images can be downloaded using our Sourceforge mirrors, or using a torrent client. You can find all the links in our downloads page: http://www.salixos.org/wiki/index.php/Download
