Salix 13.1 & Stinkpad T40: slow Loading Linux....

Yeah, I decided to switch Ubuntu 10.04 on Mrs. bioterror's laptop to Salix OS 13.1.
But I noticed on slight annoying thing, right after the LILO's screen when comes the "Loading Linux...................." it takes ages to get all the dashes.

I can even go to the toilet, take a pee and come back and it's still doing the same "......" thing.

On my Dell D600 it's fast, it's like one second and it's running the init scripts.

Hope you got what I mean, it's not a problem exactly, but extremely annoying thing.
I want a fast boot!

Seem like the solution is:
# lilo -v -c -C /etc/lilo.conf ?

The "-C /etc/lilo.conf" part is not really needed and you could add "compact" in your lilo.conf file, so you don't have to add the -c switch. But yes, that's it.

Could be a related thread: Boot Splash (reference)

Personally, I'd like to have a graphic image, or ASCII art or whatever instead of the "Loading Linux..." and this splash screen will only hide the "Loading Linux...", I just like to see the colorful writings after "Loading Linux...". :P

But this does NOT speed up the boot process actually, even worser it would slow down. It is only something about feeling the boot going on "smoother" and more liked for human beings :D

It gives the user an illusion that it isn't too slow :P
