Resolution Issues

Hey guys, I am a relative newbie to Linux and brand new to Salix. I was running Vector previous to Salix, but wanted to try this OS out since I've read so many good things.

Anyhow, I am running a old Compaq Presario 1800t, with Ati rage mobility M3 graphics. With Salix, I can't get out of 800x600. I ran "Xorg -configure" which gave me a new xorg.conf. But when I ran it to test, as suggest at the end of the xorg -configure prompt, I got a blank screen. Anyhow, booted back up and here I am. gslapt shows I have the needed drivers installed, but I am not sure where to go from here. I sort of know what I need to do (alter xorg.conf in some way) but I am not sure how or what exactely to do.

Any help would be appreciated as so far, I really like Salix. Thanks

Well I fixed it. Did more research and attempted to make a xorg.conf manually but it wouldn't boot. So, I used my puppy cd to boot puppy, run xorg wizard and then copy/paste the resulting xorg.conf into the salix filesystem.

Thats one way to do it I suppose. Liking Salix even better now that it's a bit more clear.
