Hi,
Modern (equals "easy") printer support would be nice...

Define easy
Most Open Source printer drivers are included in Slackware/Salix & easily installable through CUPS manager.

Just do some research before buying a printer

There are a lot of crap GDI printers out there, but nowadays you can get really cheap printers with PCL or even postscript support, too. Additional my color laser has LAN and it only was 129 €.

Perhaps the better question would be this: TorankK: What do you find difficult about printer configuration using the CUPS web interface? Give an example of an easier approach in another distro, something you like better. I've used all the popular distros and while some have their own tools I don't find any of them to be easier, just different.

You may try
system-config-printer
Code: Select all
# slapt-get -i system-config-printer
