Slackware <-> Salix?

Hi, i noticed reading that slackware packages are fully compatible with salix.
Just a short question...

Is this the same for any slackware related guide or tutorial? I am thinking of purchasing the official slackware handbook, and would like to know if "most" contents of the book will be compatible with a salix installation?

Or in short, is salix "pure slackware" under the hood?

:) thanks

Why purchase an URL? No, just kidding.

That book is available to buy as a printed edition, isn't it?
Who will get the money and which companies will I support with the purchase?
