I just installed salix on my pc, but this time, there was no audio. I did a FULL install, and I checked the alsa sound card, and it does detect my sound card. Or rather, A sound card. but there still is no audio output. The volume is all the way up,so please, if you can, shed some light.

Hi elohelomg,

Which Salix version was it: LXE, KDE or Xfce?

First a simple check, did you verify all the channels of the sound card? Depending on the desktop and the machine you use, you might have to configure the channels so that the muted one that may cause trouble shows up and displays in the general view of the mixer.

If even unmuted channels of your sound card there is no sound then add this line in /etc/rc.d/rc.alsa i have it in bold and the 2 other lines that already exist to know where to write it.

mixer CD 90% unmute
mixer CD 0dB

set Speaker on

delete (as root) the /etc/asound.state ( rm /etc/asound.state)
and run as root /etc/rc.d/rc.alsa

I had the same issue with my toshiba laptop. In salix-kde livecd there is the above line in rc.alsa script.

And tell us if sound works.
