Dear Salixers

After some problems with midori and epiphany failing acid3 on my laptop, where the problem lied withmy configurations, I completely reinstalled Salix Kde version.
Now I have been adding addiitonal Salix repo software xfce, + some gnome software (evince, grync etc but also epiphany and starting epiphany gives now:
Could not start gnome webbrowser
Startup failed because of the following error:
Failed to create directory “/home/mg/.gnome2/epiphany”.

?? Any idea?? Some app should create .gnome2??

If you reinstalled, did you use the same /home directory? Are users the same, including their UIDs? Perhaphs the directory is already there, but if you created a user with the same name, but with a different UID, you simply can't access it due to wrong permissions.

Hi Gapan and other fellow salixers

completely reinstalled salix kde 13.1.2
wiped out / and /home putting all of home on winxp partition

problem first persisted (no functional epiphany) (a lot of apps I installed and just after installing gdm with gnome-canvas as dependency(?) epiphany installed normally

Maybe something to remember when doing a kde install (I needed gdm because I am using kde/openbox
and this is not listed when using kdm.
