Spell checking in OpenOffice

Does anyone know how I can get spell checking in OpenOffice? I've
1. installed Hunspell
2. placed en_GB.dic and en_GB.aff in ~/.openoffice.org/3/user/wordbook
3. added en_GB to the dictionary list in Writing Aids

If I press F7, I just get a message that checking is complete, no matter what nonsense I've typed!

Get the needed dictionary as an extension from here & install directly from OpenOffice menu->tools->extension manager

That's correct, Witek.
For LibreOffice I advice this site.
Greetings.

Thanks.

I used to be able to load the dictionary file into an editor from where I'd put it and customise it. Now I have to find where OpenOffice hides the dictionary pack. Life was so much easier before they started trying to make it simpler

Well, it's not so bad as I feared. The pack is unzipped into
$HOME/.openoffice.org/3/user/uno_packages/cache/uno_packages/qcNalg_/dict-en.oxt/
How do they think of these path names? And what was wrong with the wordbook directory, that already has a dictionary?

I don't know...OpenOffice (and still for now LibreOffice) is a real mess. Not only in the source code, but also in the binaries/data. I think it's an inheritage from StarOffice.
