are not working...I've put slack -current on another D620 and they do function...anyone steer me to a clue where to configure these in Salix?

Hi,

You'll probably find KDE picks up your volume keys etc but in Xfce you'll need to assign them as 'Application Shortcuts' in the keyboard settings using 'amixer' to alter your sound levels.

You can use xfce4-volumed which has a popup that displays the current level of volume

Code: Select all

slapt-get -i xfce4-volumed
@pwatk
You could give me this tip at http://www.salixos.org/forum/viewtopic. ... it=volumed
Anyway, thank you for the tip, pwatk.

(note: it doesn't mean that I won't keep on using xfce4-volumed)

To be honest I only found out recently so I could make the buttons on my wife's HP laptop work.

I've found the shortcuts don't always register though and I can't find out why so xfce4-volumed might be a more consistent solution.
