Salix Tweak

Post by woodsman »

Has any thought or discussion been given to adding to the nice collection of Salix system tools a "Salix Tweak" tool?

The Tweak tool would function similarly to Ubuntu Tweak or the Windows Power Tweak --- a graphical mechanism to tweaking various desktop options not supported by the desktop configuration tools.

I hope the mention of Ubuntu does not send people into a frothing tizzy. :)

Yesterday I asked in another thread how to disable tooltips. I was gratefully told to edit the gtkrc file. Fair enough, a solution exists, but not a pointy-clicky solution. A Tweak tool could be used to provide a portal to such custom settings.

Other examples might be swapping the order of the Cancel and OK buttons, cursor blink time, or menu popup delay time. Just about anything that requires manually editing the gtkrc files will be a candidate for the Salix Tweak tool.

The KDE desktop is known for providing such point-and-click tools, but not GTK desktops. Thus, many of the options in the Salix Tweak tool would not be needed or apply in Salix KDE.

I say "why not !".
But I thing the main problem is there is no free resource to work on such a tool in the team for now.
It could be ok if someone want to try to do it. Maybe you can ?
