I don't have a problem (yet) just a question.
I'm running current and have kept up to date as of today.
Would it be safe to upgrade my kernel at this time and still have a workable system, e.g. automounting of usb devices will still work, etc?

Don't forget to run lilo after the kernel upgrade.

Thanks gents.
I wasn't sure if anything else in the exclude list would have to also be upgraded.

run slap-get --upgrade to see the excluded packages. After that run slapt-get -i kernel-1 kernel-2 ... and include all previously excluded kernel packages.

I was just going to remove ^kernels-* from the gslapt preferences list. Is that Ok?

Yes, will work, too. But I recommend to add it again afterwards.
