My first experience with Salix

Ok, I installed it.
The installation procedure worked fine for me except for on little thing.
Since I use grub2 I wanted to install lilo to the root partition and chainload to it. Well, I couldn't find this option, maybe I missed it? (I didn't install lilo eventually)
The first expression is great. Beautiful background.
The behavior of the touchpad is weird. There are too many scroll options enabled.
1) right scroll margin.
2) bottom scroll margin.
3) mac emulation - two fingers scrolling.
4) top right corner scrolling zone.
5) top left corner scrolling zone.
All of them are enabled by default. There should be a way to choose between these three in my opinion:
1) mac emulation - two fingers scrolling
2) scroll margins.
3) corners scroll zone
Right now it is very uncomfortable.
I couldn't enable my T61 volume keys even though Shador said it was supposed to be taken care of by hal. I can always use xfce keyboard shortcuts though.
Apart from that everything works and looks nice.
Good luck with everything.

Hmm... I had missed this...

The option is definitely there. Run liloconfig and you will see it. But installing lilo in the root partition will not work with xfs.

I happen to like all that functionality. :D
You can edit /etc/hal/fdi/policy/11-x11-synaptics.fdi to change the way it works.

I would expect them to be working without any tweaking too...

Well to be of any help for other noobs like me:
On my Acer Netbook de volume keys didn' t work out of the box. So assigned via XFCE:
http://alvonsius.wordpress.com/2007/01/ ... -keyboard/ explains how.
Adding the mixer in your panel, you will also have some visual effect.

(Since this distro is called noobix, I feel very welcome. ;) )
