Salix/Slackware 13.37 Live Remaster Kits

These two kits are for the default 2.6.37.6 and testing 2.6.38.4 kernels or any kernels in the 2.6.37 and 2.6.38 trees respectively.

THE KITS ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE!
do not try to use the 2.6.37 with either a 2.6.36 or 2.6.38 kernel, as they have differing patches, etc.
same for the 2.6.38 kernel kit.

The resulting live media the kits create run and act very similar to Slax 6.1.2 and/or Porteus with cheatcodes, loading modules, etc.

the created media can be burned to CD, placed on USB/USB-HDD and HDD and run as persistent or non-persistent live linux on fat32, ext2/3/4 and other filesystems OR installed as a full install either manually or with a script from Superb Mini Server.

the kits include the USB Persistence Wizard from Salix Live 13.1.2
and scripts from Slax 6.1.2.

The kits can be used to make a rescue cd or a full remaster of your installed system and can even remaster a hdd install from livecd session.

here is what the kits contain:

2.6.37.6-smp

buildk-SLK --kernel make script I used

kernel-squashfs-lzma.patch

kernel-aufs2.patch

linux-live-6.3.0_x86.tar.bz2 --the remaster kit, place in /root

kernel-huge-smp-2.6.37.6_smp-i686-1l.txz --premade live i686 kernel

kernel-modules-smp-2.6.37.6_smp-i686-1la.txz --premade live kernel modules

live-kit-i686-1.txz ---slax and other scripts needed

2.6.38.4-smp

buildk-SLK

kernel-aufs2.patch

lls-new-xz-generic.tar.bz2

kernel-huge-smp-2.6.38.4_smp-i686-1337-1l.txz

kernel-modules-smp-2.6.38.4_smp-i686-1337-1l.txz

live-kit-i686-1.txz

Instructions:

Install one of the live kernels/modules, the live-kit, and decompress the linux-live in /root
boot to runlevel 3 or 4
open a terminal or login as root
cd to the linux-live folder and issue the command ./build

cd /root/lls-new-xz-generic
./build

it will make a live-data-* folder in /tmp
ready to go on USB or HDD as frugal install
to make a iso go into the /tmp/live-data-*/boot folder and run the make_iso.sh script

cd /tmp/live-data-*/boot
./make_iso.sh

give it name of iso (boot.iso is default) and it will make a bootable iso you can burn to CD.

Kernel patches I used are here-

http://cvs.pld-linux.org/cgi-bin/cvsweb ... es/kernel/

here is the two kits combined:

Have fun
any questions please ask!

hi there,

i would like to use this scrpt on Sabayon. Do you think this can be done without too much of a change? aufs and squashfa are build into the kernel.

by the way, the link for the kits seems to be down.

Link is up again, thx

thx

hello

yeah, it may work for Gentoo type linux too maybe...

xz is already in the kernel so all you need to do is patch any 2.6.38 kernel with that patch
install the live-kit to your OS
compile a new kernel on your setup using the config for the 2.6.38.4 kernel and then run the build script and hopefully it turns out:)

Anyone still have the Salix1337-builds.tar.xz package, because it seems that the above link is down?

OK here's the kit for 13.37 with 2.6.37.6 and 2.6.38.4 live kernels, modules, etc
Install the kernel, modules, and live kit, decompress the lls in /root and run the build script (./build)
kernel patches just there if you want to make a customized kernel

I haven't gotten around to a true 14 build but have a working one with 3.2.29 kernel...
Here's the iso I made for 14
