I am getting this box on startup of my Xfce desktop.
Notification Area
The tray manager lost selection
The bar at the bottom flashes and conky is very slow to start.
at one point in the past I added the places tool on the bottom panel and then removed it.
very annoying behavior.

Re: Xfce error box "tray manager lost selection"[fixed]
I removed files form the ~/.cache/sessions directory and now all is well again.
seems like a short coming in Xfce in that you can get bad info from a past session and it persists.

Re: Xfce error box "tray manager lost selection"[fixed]
I've seen the "Save session" option on the xfce logout dialog do more harm than good...
Re: Xfce error box "tray manager lost selection"[fixed]
I can't get any icons in the system tray. wicd, power managment, etc is gone.
I tried deleting the files in ~/.cache
I tried tweaking the sessions and startup. can't seem to get them back. Any other fixes?

Re: Xfce error box "tray manager lost selection"[fixed]
Maybe you deleted the tray applet from your taskbar?
Re: Xfce error box "tray manager lost selection"[fixed]
Thanks. I actually realized the tray wasn't built into the bar. The tray was completely gone, so I just added it. Purely a user error. I'm used to fluxbox.
