Xournal, Please

]Xournal is a light and simple note-taking application that also annotates PDFs. Very useful for my schoolwork and such. Would love to have that available from the repos.

Thanks!

Wonderful! Do I need to add that to my sources list so that it appears in the package manager?

no,
just type in terminal:

su
your pass
slapt-src -i xournal

then it will be installed.

Or just use Sourcery.

You can read about how to install applications on the start up guide.

Didn't work. The requested app couldn't be found.
Or just use Sourcery.
I find no application by the name of "Sourcery" in the menu (nor even in Gslapt) and no mention of Sourcery in the start-up guide. How do I access sourcery?

Sorry for the silly newbie questions... they won't last, I promise. I'm keeping careful notes of what I learn.

Thanks!

There is a mention of Sourcery in the start up guide for sure. Page 21-22.

Sourcery should be already in your system. (Under System)

As for the slapt-src, have you already updated the cache list by:

slapt-src -u

?

Once it is updated, try:

slapt-src -i xournal

Okay, got it... I did not do

Code: Select all

slapt-src -u
before trying

Code: Select all

slapt-src -i xournal
Once the first was done, the second was successful. Thanks very much!

I've checked and double-checked for Sourcery, though. It is not in the list of applications under "System" nor anywhere else. It is not listed among installed applications in the Package Manager, and it is not listed as available in the package manager. It doesn't even appear in the list of "All" applications even after updating.

Can I install it through the terminal? slapt-src -i sourcery didn't work.

Thank you very much!

try

slapt-get -u
slapt-get -i sourcery

But it is strange that sourcery is not installed on your box. I thought you installed salix 13.37 lxde edition, no?

And also please read the start up guide. :)

I think I have the 13.37 LXDE edition installed... perhaps it's an older version.

Code: Select all

slapt-get -i sourcery
was unsuccessful. Perhaps I have an older version and need to upgrade? Perhaps then Sourcery will appear in the new list.

I have the start-up guide handy, but strangely, my poor ol' 'puter runs only one application at a time. If I open a terminal while SeaMonkey is open or a PDF is on display, it freezes. I have to close them all, write down the command I want to try, then re-open only the terminal for it to work.

I didn't mean to elicit a "read the manual" reply, but I surely had it coming to me. Apologies, Sir. This is wonderfully new and unfamiliar to me and in fact, I'm enjoying myself believe it or not.

Thanks again!
