I don't think that is working anyway, because you need to update the database as your user and the doinst.sh does it for the root user. In any case I think it is a problem (bug?) with xfce and it should be treated as such. There is no problem with gnome or kde and even not in lxde I think.fredg wrote:What about adding an update-desktop-database in the doinst.sh ?

Re: Evince not shown in menu after install
What about:
I have it in some of my buildscripts as doinst.sh.
Code: Select all
usr/bin/gtk-update-icon-cache -f -t usr/share/icons/hicolor

Re: Evince not shown in menu after install
Well,
after upgrading and restarting XFCE, it seemed ok.
I added the thumbnailer file as described in the zenwalk wiki, and after another XFCE restart the thumbnails were built.
But, in the context menue of a PDF file (right click), there is a generic folder icon shown for the 'document viewer' instead of a miniaturised evince icon.
How does come and where to fix?

That's because that's the assigned icon for pdf files. Look in my other post here to find how to fix it: http://www.salixos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1401#p1401
