Hello. I downloaded LXDE Live 13.1.2 CD of Salix and installed to HDD and i enjoy it but i have one annoying issue - whenever i delete any files with default PCmanFM(0.5.2) the amount of free space isn't increased but stays same. Is this bug or there is hidden trash somewhere? How could i fix this without reinstalling Salix again or picking some other .iso? It is pretty annoying when you have deleted big files but still no free extra space for other files and after some time there is pretty much no room for something else.. Thanks in advance.

I think you have to empty the wastebasket too, though I'm not sure because I don't have an LXDE installation. Or did you do this, and still not gain any free space?

Hmmm ... I see this version of PCManFM doesn't have that feature. Just an annoying confirm-delete message.

This is just a guess, but... deleting a file in one partition won't free up space in another partition.

I do not use LXDE, or pcmanfm but if the space doesn't budge, in the same partition where you delete stuff, I would imagine it gets saved in some sort of wastebasket somewhere somehow.

In Xfce, with thunar, I still use the terminal & the command line to remove big objects. Mainly because it is faster as it is done instantly, but also so that I don't have to have the double work of emptying the basket afterwards.

Shift + Delete is your friend.

What file system are you using?
How do you check for free space?
Does it just take some time until the free space is recognized?

There is no visible trash for this LXDE version..

Nope. I am talking about "/"(salix root) drive.

Yes i think that too but where? Even searching including hidden files for those files doesn't show anything in results.

People are different so what works for you doesn't work for someone else - i dislike XFCE and using everytime terminal + root login if i can do stuff like that with file manager.

- Default ext4
- With same pcmanfm(when you open it up on bottom it says "X visible items (Y hidden), Free space: Z [amount] (Total: T [amount])") but it says same with other tools and programs for example in Transmission when try download new file it says not enough free space even previous stuff was completely deleted
- It doesn't care about time or restarts - it stays same untill something is done like reinstalling salix
BTW: This problem is in effect even when browsing web. For example after watching many youtube videos free space is decreased due to downloading them in cache and after doing "clean|delete private data" all of options free space still stays low but it should be increased if everything previous is deleted from HDD. So is this file manager bug or is there hidden trash somewhere?

This doesn't make sense. Do the following please, and post the output of every console command:
Now delete the /foo file with pcmanfm. Then run:

Just to be sure, please check if you have the following directory:
/home/username/.local/share/Trash

go to the /,local/share folder then drag the Thrash folder on the favorites bar on the left, so you'll have it only a cick away when you open the file manager
