I have installed the slack 13.37 version of Salix. Every thing was configured properly and running. It is a bit slow on my old Sony laptop but all I can expect out of this machine.

When I boot the computer up there is a warning "Bios older than 2001". It states bios is 2000 and need FORCE=apci

Is that something I need to add somewhere? Is that why the computer will not turn off? It just machine halted and then just sits there without turning off.

Thanks for the help. I added "acpi=force" to my lilo.conf file and now it will shut down as it should.
