Superb Mini Server

I'd just like to sound out your thoughts on Superb Mini Server: sms.it-ccs.com/index.html
As a quick background, I have a Core2 Duo e7300, 1 GB RAM, 500 HD, that I was trying to sell but had no takers. After reading about bit-rot, and getting slightly paranoid about some of the stuff I have on DVDr, I decided to set up a FreeNAS 8 machine. No RAID or anything at the moment, just spare copies of my favourite music, movies etc. And as a bit of a project. Lamenting the fact that there is no Salix NAS version, I came across Superb Mini Server, based on Slackware 13.37, near enough I thought. I'd prefer not to get into FreeBSD 8 if possible and stay all Salix / Slackware. Later, when hard drive prices fall, I'll probably try out Btrfs, RAID, music streaming etc, but for the moment the machine will just be a learning testbed, and off most of the time.
